An affidavit is a written statement that gives the facts you will rely on in your court case. It must be sworn by a Notary Public. There are three types:
- Letters of Invitation, which are used to obtain a visitor's visa to Canada
- Affidavits regarding the transfer of ownership of vehicles
- Other kinds of affidavits
If you need a Letter of Invitation so that you can obtain a visitor's visa for someone, please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Address
- Phone number
- Citizenship status
- Employer and employer's address
- Position
- Name of your bank
- Your passport, birth certificate and driver's license
You will also have to provide information about the person who will be applying for the visitor's visa:
- Full name
- Date and place of birth
- Address and phone number
- Relationship to you
- Citizenship status
- Arrival date and departure date
