Affidavits and Letters of Invitation

An affidavit is a written statement that gives the facts you will rely on in your court case. It must be sworn by a Notary Public. There are three types:

  • Letters of Invitation, which are used to obtain a visitor's visa to Canada
  • Affidavits regarding the transfer of ownership of vehicles
  • Other kinds of affidavits

If you need a Letter of Invitation so that you can obtain a visitor's visa for someone, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Citizenship status
  • Employer and employer's address
  • Position
  • Name of your bank
  • Your passport, birth certificate and driver's license

You will also have to provide information about the person who will be applying for the visitor's visa:

  • Full name
  • Date and place of birth
  • Address and phone number
  • Relationship to you
  • Citizenship status
  • Arrival date and departure date
